The protection of Classified Information and, thus, its security, falls, as a last resort, on the people handling, managing and transporting such information or on those who simply have access to it by chance.
In this sense, Personnel Security is a condition attained when the implementation of efficient measures allows to reduce the risk of compromise of Classified Information to an acceptable level.
The National Security Authority is in charge of ensuring that appropriate Personnel Security regulations are in place so as to guarantee that only duly authorized personnel have access to Classified Information. Such authorization is granted by means of a Personal Security Clearance (PSC).
